A day at Hilton Daycare

A day at Hilton Daycare is somewhat structured, but at times child led. Electronic use is strictly limited. We do many fun activities instead of using electronics. Some of these activities include walking to the park, planting flowers, and even painting. If we get into an activity we are really enjoying, we may miss the next planned activity. That's okay, we will pick up the next one another day.  We often have preschool learning, but since children learn tons from play we have plenty of time for that as well.  Children under 5 years of age will have a rest time in the afternoon in a playpen or on a cot depending on age.  Children over 5 years of age will be given quiet independent activities to do during rest time, they will be expected to remain quiet and stay in the assigned areas during this time.

Preschool lessons take place during the morning hours.  If your child is not here in the morning they will miss many of these lessons.  Due to the fact that Hilton Daycare provides care for many different schedules, you should ask what activities you can expect your child to be involved in while in care.

Play Time

For children, their "job" is to learn.  Play is an essential part of learning for children!  Block play promotes mathmatical growth and puzzles promote problem solving!  When children play together playing "store", they are learing math, problem solving and social skills!  Everything your child plays with teaches them something, and the possiblities are endless!  At Hilton Daycare, play is the most important part of the day and takes up the biggest chunck of time.  I am always looking for oppurtunities to help the children learn while they are playing.

Meals And Snacks

At Hilton Daycare, I strive to provide healthy, home coooked meals and snacks, often including made from scratch breads and other items.  I follow current USDA guidelines for nutrition.  Children are never forced to eat something they do not choose to eat, but no substitute meal will be offered.  Generally, we do not allow food from  home, however if your child is on a special diet you may provide those foods with documentation from thier doctor.  We do allow special treats from home for holiday parties, birthdays and other special events.  These items must be discussed with the provider prior to being brought to care.  Currently, peanut butter, milk, eggs, flour and other possible allergens are used in the daycare.  Please discuss all food allergies with the provider PRIOR to enrollment.  Meals and snacks will be served at the set times every day.
